Is House of Grapplers really free for gyms?
Yes. No tiers, no credit card, no trial timer. Every feature is on the moment you create your gym. Optional paid add-ons exist for capacity boosts (SMS, video storage), but the platform itself is free forever.
What does 'free forever' mean — what's the catch?
There isn't one. HoG runs as a free SaaS so it can also be the community front-door — your students show up on the public side too. That brings new gyms in. The platform stays free; opt-in add-ons (SMS, video storage) only kick in if you outgrow defaults.
How does HoG compare to GymDesk, Wodify, or PushPress?
GymDesk, Wodify, and PushPress are tiered SaaS — pricing scales with member count and the deeper features (retention, automations, branded app) sit behind upgrades. HoG ships every feature on day one, free, and adds a public community layer those platforms don't have. The trade-off: GymDesk has been around longer and supports striking-only schools. HoG is grappling-first by design.
Can I import my existing student roster?
Yes. CSV import is supported on day one — name, email, belt, stripes, training-since date, and contact info come over in one file. We also rebuild attendance history if you export a date-stamped log from your previous platform.
What payment processors do you support?
Stripe is the default — it handles recurring dues, one-time charges, failed-payment recovery, and refunds. We don't charge a platform fee on top of Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢. You connect your own Stripe account in onboarding; payouts go directly to your bank, not through us.
Do you offer attendance tracking and check-ins?
Yes. Every class generates an attendance roster automatically. Members can check in via QR scan, a shared kiosk tablet at the front desk, or self-check-in from their phone. Coaches can also mark attendance manually. All of it feeds the retention dashboard and belt promotion timeline.
Can students access the platform from a kiosk or QR code?
Yes — both. The kiosk mode runs on any tablet at the front desk: students tap their face or scan a QR wristband to check in, no app install required. We also generate a per-gym QR code you can print and hang on the wall; scanning it brings up the schedule, check-in, and the gym's public profile.
Is there a mobile app?
The platform is a mobile-first web app — it installs to the home screen on iOS and Android and works offline for check-ins. A native iOS/Android app is on the roadmap but not required to run a gym today; everything (members, attendance, dues, schedule, public profile) works in the browser.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Members, attendance, belt history, and payment records are exportable to CSV any time. No lock-in.
What if I'm not running a BJJ gym?
Wrestling, judo, sambo, and other grappling styles work today. Striking-only schools (boxing, Muay Thai) are not the target — the belt system and curriculum templates are built for grappling specifically.
How long does setup take?
About 2 minutes to create the gym. Add your first class and member in another 2-3. Most owners are doing real check-ins within the first week.
Do my students need to sign up too?
Only if you want them to use the student portal (their schedule, belt progress, payment history). You can run attendance and belts without student accounts via QR kiosk mode.
