I went through 4 pairs in 18 months. Here's what survived: Origin Performance, Hayabusa Geo, the Sanabul Essentials. The Origin lasted longest by a wide margin, but the Hayabusa is the most comfortable. Sanabul broke at the inner thigh seam at month 3 in both pairs I owned. Anyone tested the new Vulkan or the Bad Boy versions? Drop your honest seam-failure month if you know it.
I see people wearing competition rashguards as gym shirts. Walking around in their team kit at the grocery store. Is that fine, or is it the gi equivalent of wearing a marathon medal three weeks after the race? I genuinely don't know what the etiquette is in 2026. Used to be: wear it for class, take it off for everything else. Now Instagram-comp culture has made the rashguard part of the look. What's your gym's vibe?
Pearl weave breathes badly. If your gym is 80°F+ in summer, you want a single-weave or a ripstop top with traditional pants. Heavier weaves trap heat. What I rotate in summer: Origin Hyper Wave (single), Hyperfly Hydro (ripstop top), Shoyoroll Comp Standard pants. Anyone tried the new Sanabul Highlights line? Curious if it actually breathes.
Boil-and-bite mouthguards do almost nothing in actual rolling. They flop, they cut your gums, and they can come loose mid-scramble. A custom guard from your dentist is $80-150 and lasts years. If $150 is too much: SISU 2.4mm at $25 is genuinely close to custom and is the only OTC I'd recommend. I've had two teammates lose teeth in the last year. Both wore boil-and-bite.
